Syro: Gentle Nudges (“Syro”, “the app”) is designed to be private, local-first, and minimal. This Privacy Policy explains what Syro does and does not collect.

Summary

Syro does not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data to the developer or third parties.

Syro does not use:

  • Accounts
  • Cloud sync
  • Advertising SDKs
  • Analytics SDKs
  • Third-party tracking
  • Remote AI services
  • External servers for reflection generation

Data Syro Stores On Device

Syro stores limited local information on your device so the app can function:

  • Your selected watched apps or categories, managed through Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls APIs
  • Local activity signals from Apple’s DeviceActivity APIs, such as longer monitored sessions
  • Optional reason tags you choose, such as “bored”, “avoiding something”, “habit”, or “needed a break”
  • Locally generated reflection state
  • Local setup, notification, and app-extension state

This information is stored locally on your device and, where needed, shared between the main app and its DeviceActivity extension through the app’s App Group container.

Screen Time And Family Controls

Syro uses Apple’s Screen Time, Family Controls, and DeviceActivity APIs so you can choose which apps Syro should watch for longer sessions.

Syro does not read the content of messages, feeds, websites, videos, photos, or activity inside other apps. Syro only receives the limited activity signals that Apple’s Screen Time APIs make available to the app.

Notifications

Syro uses local notifications to provide:

  • A gentle check-in after a longer monitored session
  • A once-per-day notice when a reflection is ready

Notification behavior is handled locally on your device.

Reflection Generation

Syro’s reflections are generated on device from rule-based, human-written templates. Syro does not send your activity data or reason tags to an external AI service.

Data Sharing

Syro does not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties.

Children’s Privacy

Syro is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app uses Apple’s Screen Time permission system and does not transmit user data to the developer.

Data Deletion

You can delete Syro from your device to remove the app and its local app data. You can also revoke Screen Time and notification permissions from iOS Settings.

Changes To This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if Syro’s functionality changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
